Topic: Decision-making capacity and consent, with a focus on people with PIMD
Host: Michelle King
The UNCRPD calls for universal legal decision-making capacity, but what does this look like for people with profound intellectual disabilities? People with PIMD challenge ideas about decision-making and how it works in practice. Some of the key ethical issues involving Article 12 and universal legal capacity are discussed by researchers and theorists in the field in this roundtable. Join the IASSIDD Ethics SIRG in the Australian time slot for research presentations and general discussion.

We will also discuss how, together, we could be better prepared ethically for this and future pandemics.
