Dear IASSIDD members,
The Disability & Technology Affinity Group (DTAG) focuses on the whole spectrum of the impact and embedding of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Equal consideration is given to the opportunities and possibilities as well as the challenges and risks associated with the use of technology.
The first DTAG virtual workshop will be held on 30 November 2023 at 13:00 UTC. Our objective is to share our research as well as consider cutting-edge issues and debates in relation to technology in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. We aim to start building our identity by working together as a group and plan the remit of our work within IASSIDD.
We would like you to consider sharing some of your research and ideas at the workshop. This invitation includes research which is being planned, ongoing or completed. Some of the topics and themes we thought would be of interest are included in the list below, but please feel free to offer presentations in any area relating to technology and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities:
- Digital Health & Wellbeing
- Digital Inclusion and People with High Support Needs
- Intersectionality and Inclusion in Digital Spaces
- Cyber Risk, Security and Privacy
- The Social and Human Impact of Technological Advances (e.g. Artificial Intelligence)
- Gaming
- Research Methods in Disability and Technology
Based on your submissions, the DTAG executive committee will create the workshop program. We envision that contribution formats will include:
- Oral Presentations to all attendees
- ‘Work in Progress’ Presentation
- Group Discussion Topics for break-out rooms
Further details will follow regarding presentation submissions and registrations.
If you have any questions in relation to this please email Peter – Peter.Zentel@edu.lmu.de
Hoping for an enthusiastic reply and large participation, we look forward to you joining us at our very first workshop.
Sincerely,
Peter Zentel, Claude L. Normand, Vincent Bemmel & Darren D. Chadwick
