Welcome to the Down Syndrome Special Interest Research Group
Our SIRG welcomes members from IASSIDD who are interested and involved in research in the field of Down syndrome.
Mission
The special interest research group on Down syndrome exists to encourage research and the application of research in the field of Down syndrome. This field makes an important contribution to the broad intellectual disability research agenda. The SIRG the translation of research to improve outcomes for people with Down syndrome, their families and support people.
Objectives
- To provide a focus for the worldwide exchange and dissemination of research and application in relation to Down syndrome.
- To encourage discussion, exchange of ideas, and the development of knowledge in the field.
- To promote publication of research outputs and dissemination of information both at international and national levels in relation to research and practice in the field of Down syndrome.
- To promote, through research and application, the inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome in all domains of life, consistent with the rights and responsibilities of citizenship the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
- To promote the inclusion of people with Down syndrome in all stages of the research process.
